Three Abilene ISD cross country athletes are headed to Round Rock to compete in the UIL State Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 7, following outstanding performances at their regional meets!
Abilene High School's Aubrey Duran earned her spot at state with an eighth-place individual finish at the regional meet. The Lady Eagles also delivered a strong team performance, finishing eighth overall out of 24 teams.
Cooper High School's Mia Garcia and Lila Murillo made history at the Region 1-5A meet in Lubbock. Garcia, a freshman, earned a bronze medal with a third-place finish, while Murillo, a senior, finished fourth. The pair are the first Cooper girls to qualify for the UIL State Cross Country Championships in 29 years and the first in school history to qualify in the 5K era!
Congratulations to Aubrey, Mia, and Lila on these incredible accomplishments! Abilene ISD is proud of your hard work and dedication, and we'll be cheering you on as you represent the Eagles and Cougars at state!
