Abilene ISD Fine Arts has announced Jett Lowrance as the new head band director at Mann STEAM Academy. Lowrance currently serves as assistant band director at Clack Middle School and brings more than a decade of experience in band education to his new role.
Lowrance brings a strong record of building successful, student-centered programs to Mann. He began his career in 2010 as an assistant band director in Merkel ISD before moving to Eastland ISD in 2014, where his middle school bands consistently earned UIL sweepstakes honors and received recognition at both regional and state-level competitions. Lowrance joined AISD in 2023 at Clack Middle School, where he directs the non-varsity band, assists with the varsity and jazz ensembles, and leads beginning brass instruction. With his assistance, the non-varsity ensemble earned consecutive sweepstakes awards at UIL Concert and Sight-Reading contests.
“I am beyond thrilled to accept the position of Head Band Director at the Mann STEAM Academy,” Lowrance said. “It is an absolute dream to lead such a dedicated group of students in a heavily supported band program. Middle school years are truly special and where a lifelong passion for music often begins. My goal is to foster an environment where students feel inspired to perform, safe to take risks and make mistakes, and empowered to lead by example in our school and community.”
Lowrance holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Hardin-Simmons University, where he graduated with honors and was actively involved in multiple performing ensembles and leadership organizations.
