Stafford Families,
During October, our students will spend time learning about the characteristics and qualities of each of our four houses: friendship, giving, dreaming big, and courage. These lessons help us build resilience, set goals, be good friends, and lift each other up as a Stafford family! 💙❤️💚🖤
This week, we focus on Amistad (House of Friendship)
Name & Meaning
“Amistad” is Spanish for friendship, and this identity is central to the house’s mission: to foster unity, empathy, and lasting connections among its members.
Origin & Heritage
Amistad traces its roots to Mexico, reflecting a heritage that values community and shared strength.
Mascot & Symbolic Animal
The immortal peacock is the symbolic creature of Amistad. This bird represents love, resilience, protection, and the idea that one’s true colors should be shown with confidence.
Members are encouraged to “find their feathers,” meaning to discover and embrace their genuine gifts, talents, and virtues.
Crest & Symbols
Color: Amistad’s official color is red (Pantone 199; HEX #BD0032), symbolizing a “kindness of heart.”
Castle: At the center of the crest, the castle signifies a foundation of strength and protection—built through the power of camaraderie
Crossed Keys / Hand Signal: The crossed keys (represented with arms in the official hand signal) symbolize unlocking the gateway to friendship, where kindness, generosity, and purity flourish.
Knight: Beyond the peacock, the knight symbolizes the inner fierceness, the willingness to protect and defend the realm of friendship.
