Stafford Families,
During October, our students will spend time learning about the characteristics and qualities of each of our four houses: friendship, giving, dreaming big, and courage. These lessons help us build resilience, set goals, be good friends, and lift each other up as a Stafford family! 💙❤️💚🖤
This week, we focus on Isibindi (House of Courage)
Name & Meaning
“In Zulu, ‘Isibindi’ means courage.” This house embodies boldness, resilience, and the strength to stand firm for what is right.
Origin & Heritage
Isibindi traces its roots to South Africa, drawing on the legacy of leaders like Nelson Mandela and Shaka Zulu—strategic, creative, and unafraid to lead.
Mascot & Symbolic Animals
The symbolic animals are the lion and the mute swan. The lion represents strength, family, and fearlessness. The swan, though quiet, reflects creativity and inner resilience—reminding members that even the softest voice can speak volumes.
Crest & Symbols
Color: Green (Pantone 7482; HEX #009D4F) — inspired by Africa’s rich, abundant resources.
Ebony Tree: Symbolizes beauty, resilience, and heritage.
Zulu Axe: Represents strategy, protection, and standing firm for what matters.
Official Hand Signal: “Who You With” — a gesture that unites the House in its mission of courage.
At its heart, the House of Isibindi challenges us: to lead with bravery, to lift others even when the journey is hard, and to transform quiet strength into bold action. 💚
