Students from Abilene High, Cooper High and the Academy of Technology, Engineering, Math & Science (ATEMS) will receive checks next week as incentive awards for their outstanding performance on last year’s Advanced Placement and PSAT exams.
The program is funded entirely through grants to AISD’s College Prep Initiative by the Dodge Jones Foundation and the Diane Graves-Owen Foundation. The Dodge Jones Foundation has supported the program for the past 15 years.
Incentive money is granted to students who passed AP tests in May 2017 and/or were recognized in this year’s National Merit Scholarship Program for high scores on the PSAT exam. Last year, more than $110,700 was awarded to approximately 350 students.
Presentation of the checks will be made at the College Prep Initiative Student Awards Assembly at each campus. Checks are mailed to students who graduated last May.
