Abilene High Eagles vs. Cooper Cougars. Abilene Fire Department vs. Abilene Police Department.

The “rivalry” continues, and on January 27, it is all going down for a great cause.

Members of the AHS tennis team will join members of the fire department, while CHS tennis players will team up with police officers in a 23-match doubles competition for the ages.

The event, set for 10 a.m. at the Rose Park Tennis Center, will serve as a fundraiser for relief efforts still going on in the Houston area since Hurricane Harvey hit landfall in late August.

Admission is free, but funds will be raised with the sale of customized t-shirts with the event logo and grilled hamburger meals. Short sleeve t-shirts will be $25, long sleeve $30 and a hamburger, chips and dessert meal for $7.

Donations are also welcome. For more information, contact Trance Rosenquist at 325-669-4441. Proceeds will be donated to the United Way Relief Fund of Greater Houston.
