Can you believe it?  That time of year again is here when ABILENE GOES CAJUN! The Abilene Education Foundation is proud to present its 3rdAnnual family-fun, all-day expanded Cajun Festival. So, mark your calendars for Saturday, April 14that the Taylor County Expo Center Fairgrounds.  Presented by H-E-B and STAR DODGE/RAM.

Cajun Festival will once again celebrate the outstanding performing groups of AISD, and, with the addition of an indoor stage, we will showcase even more dazzling groups including Revolution Strings, Craig MS Jazz Band, AHS & CHS Jazz, Blues, and Steel Drum Bands, and several elementary school choirs.  Local university jazz bands and the Abilene Community Band will also be performing, as well as a special guest performance group. Please see the full entertainment schedule at the website listed below.AEF will also announce the winners of the K-3rdgrade coloring contest. Patrons will, once again, enjoy the entertainment of Zydeco music by Master of Ceremonies Eric Logan with eMotion Entertainment.

Prior to the festival gates opening at 10:30 am, the day will kick-off with the 3rdAnnual “Crawfish Crawl” 5k run/walk at 8:30 am, beginning outside Shotwell Stadium and ending on the field at the 50-yard line, where contestants can watch themselves cross the finish line on the giant scoreboard screen. Plaques and ribbons will be awarded for top finisher categories, including best costume.  Our authentic Louisiana style Crawfish and Shrimp Boil (over 2 pounds of crawfish and shrimp plus sausage, potatoes, and corn) will be served from 11 am-6:45 pm (or until we sell out, so come early). Crawfish not your thing? Don’t worry, we will have five fantastic food trucks on-site as well.

Awesome activities for kids! There will be an inflatable park for all ages with an All-You-Care-to-Bounce Wristband, plus (NEW THIS YEAR) pony rides, face painting, and animals from the Abilene Zoo. Plenty of entertainment for the adults, as well.  Back by popular demand, we will offer the Shop Fest vendor mall in the Modern Living Mall, and we have added the first annual Show and Shine CAR SHOW.
