Abilene High School senior Hope Arrazola earned her fourth all-state honor in choir after competing at the Texas Music Educators Association Area A Vocal Audition earlier this month in Midland.

Arrazola will sing Alto 1 in the All-State Mixed Choir, becoming the first Abilene High School student in recent memory to earn four TMEA all-state selections.  Cooper graduate Peter Garza, who is now making his living on Broadway and starred on tour with “Hamilton,” was a four-time TMEA all-state selection at Cooper. Arrazola will perform at the TMEA Convention, Feb. 7-10, in San Antonio.

Two members of the Cooper High School band and one member of the Abilene High band earned TMEA all-state band honors. Cooper student Aaron Reece earned his second all-state honor on the French horn, and Tristan Tardiff earned all-state honors on the oboe. Renee Barber from Abilene High earned all-state honors on the clarinet. Barber, Reece, and Tardiff will perform in San Antonio at the TMEA Convention, Feb. 7-10.

Abilene High students who earned area honors in choir were Jackson Liske (Bass 1) and Arrazola. Cooper’s Cierra Brown (Soprano 2) also earned area choir honors.

Cooper band students who earned area honors were Derek Crespo (trumpet), Kenneth Heck (trombone), Isiah Lima (alto saxophone), Angela Lozano (flute), Rylan Murray (clarinet), Reece, Isis Salazar (flute), Benjamin Walter (tenor saxophone), and Tardiff.

Abilene High band students who earned area honors were Stephen Griffith (oboe), Hazel Samuels (oboe), Colt Moreland (bassoon), Barber, Sydney Spell (clarinet), Hilari Alvarez (clarinet), Cooper Wagner (bass clarinet), Ethan Atkins (contrabass clarinet), Cole Elders (bari saxophone), Cory Rodriguez (cornet/trumpet), Lianna Pfrimmer (French horn), Anson Cobarruvias (trombone), and Ali Pilit (euphonium).
