Two ATEMS robotics teams – including the team that will compete at the VEX Robotics World Championships later this month – took on 55 teams from across Texas last weekend at the TSA State Robotics Tournament in Fort Worth, advancing to the qualification round.

The 9871E team finished 16th in the competition, while the 9871T team finished 22nd. The TSA Vex Tournament is similar to the standard VEX Tournament that ATEMS and The LIFT hosted last month, except there are no skill scores in the TSA tournament and only the top three teams advance to the TSA National Conference in June.

The 9871T team continues its preparation for the VEX Robotics World Championships, April 24-27, in Dallas.  After much planning and research, the 9871T robot has been redesigned and rebuilt to better compete against the world-class robots it will encounter at the world championship. This robot build is almost complete with robot programming for driver-controlled and autonomous driving close to complete. Their final step is to extensively drive the robot in both modes in preparation for the competition.

The ATEMS robotics team will travel to the world championships in style, thanks to a gift from the Development Corporation of Abilene. The DCOA recently provided each member of the team and staff that will travel to the world championships with jackets, backpacks, carrying cases, and VEX robot parts.
