Career & Technical Education students from all three high schools and The Lift brought home medals from the 2022 SkillsUSA State Leadership and Conference held March 31-April 2 in Corpus Christi.
AISD students who advanced to the state level of competition in Information Technology, Cosmetology, Automotive, Welding and Graphic Design were recognized at the April 11 meeting of the Board of Trustees. Also recognized were ATEMS Robotics students who qualified earlier to statewide competition. You can read about the Robotics team here.
Several AISD students medaled at the SkillsUSA competition. Leading the way for AISD was junior Hunter Tevebaugh, who captured the state championship in Welding 1. Freshman Rilee Frazier also won the bronze medal in Welding Applications.
In Information Technology: the team of Aaron Brokovich and Rylan Dean, 3rd Place in Cyber Security; Brokovich, bronze medal in Cyber Technical Test; Dean, silver in Networking Technical Test. Also, Shelby Sumpter and Isabella Bracamonte-Harrell were elected as District 02 officers and are eligible to attend the Texas Summer Leadership Training and the Washington DC Leadership Training Institute.
Students who medaled in Graphic Design were Cayden Hunter, second place in 2D/3D Animated Short Film, and Johnny Nguyen, silver medal in Graphic Communications. Both students also received a Red Ribbon – Excellence award.
