Truth be told, the “graduate wall” in Courtney Saunders’ counseling office at Woodson Center for Excellence emerged from an honest attempt to avoid decorating.

However, it has now become a main focal point and a place of pride for Excel students.

Seniors work hard to earn the right to scrawl their name on the wall when they graduate, and underclassmen see it every time they bring a credit into the office. The wall is a visual reminder to all students that graduation from high school is attainable.

So far in the 2016-17 school year, WCE has helped 139 AISD students graduate with more to come in the following weeks.

In August, the wall will be wiped clean so that the next round of graduates can proudly make their mark on the school.
