Nine students from Cooper High’s chapter of the Family Career and Community Leaders of America will compete in the Texas State FCCLA Leadership Conference April 5-7 in Dallas.

The students earned the right to compete at the state level by qualifying in the Region II competition in February in Waco.

Here are the Cooper state qualifiers’ results from the regional competition:

Spotlight on Projects, Student Body – Esha Abbas and Keira Zepeda, first place.

Spotlight on Projects, Families First – Kennedy Burnett, McKenzie Moreno and Tucker Sartor, first place.

STAR (Students Taking Action for Recognition), Chapter in Review – Shams Abdulsattar, Brianna Lara and Claudia Martinez, fifth place.

STAR, Teach and Train Occupational – Rebecca Desrochers, first place.

Desrochers also qualified for state by attaining the Gold level in the Family & Consumer Sciences Assessment. Other CHS students who placed in the FCS Assessment but did not qualify for state were Taylor Coffey, Silver; and Esha Abbas, Kennedy Burnett and Tucker Sartor, Bronze.
