Burlington Stores, Inc., through its partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org, surprised the students and staff of Reagan Elementary School on Friday with a donation of $10,000 in celebration of its new store in Abilene.

Representatives from Burlington Stores presented the check to Reagan principal Chris Halifax during an all-school assembly.

A representative from AdoptAClassroom.org contacted Reagan Elementary administrators and helped to secure the donation, which will provide new supplies for each teacher’s classroom for the upcoming 2018-19 school year.

The Reagan campus is a close neighbor to the new Burlington store, which will open May 11 at 3526 S. Clack St.

Burlington“On behalf of Abilene ISD, I would like to thank Burlington and AdoptAClassroom.org for adopting Reagan Elementary,” Halifax said. “Teachers go above and beyond quietly spending their time and money with little recognition or acclaim. Ultimately, teachers invest their lives to shape future leaders and produce an educated citizenry thus making a positive impact on society. I am constantly in awe of the dedication of these TRUE heroes. Our teachers look forward to using the funds to enhance learning in our school and in their classrooms. We are thankful for the support we received from Burlington and AdoptAClassroom.org.”
