Abilene ISD high school choir students auditioned for the Texas Music Educators Association Region 6 All-Region Choir on Sept. 29 at Odessa Permian High School.

A total of 18 AISD musicians qualified for the All-Region Mixed Choir and Treble Choir. They will return to Odessa Permian on Nov. 3 for the All-Region Clinic and Concert, where the choirs will perform at 6 p.m.

Abilene High School placed eight students and Cooper High School placed three students in the All-Region Mixed Choir.

Those students by section were:

Abilene High School:  Soprano II – Lauren Hampton, Mia Mirelez, Lindsay Rogers, and Karissa Ward; Alto I – Mackenzie Stevens; Tenor I – Harrison Smith; Bass I – William Hampton; and Bass II – Jackson Stevens.

Cooper High School:  Alto II – Baylee Schroedter; and Bass II – Chris Huerta and Jackson Young.

Abilene High School placed four students and Cooper High School placed three students in the All-Region Treble Choir.  Those students by section were:

Abilene High School:  Soprano 2 – Kylee Russell and Macy Wallace; Alto I – Molly Mercer; and Alto 2 – Jenna Stevens.

Cooper High School:  Soprano I – Gabby Crespo; Alto I – Liliah Monroy; and Alto II – and Ashlynn White.

The AHS choirs are under the direction of Mrs. Wendy Weeks and Mr. Remel Derrick.  The CHS choirs are under the direction of Mrs. Cara Naizer and Mr. Josh Westman.
