ABILENE – Eight Abilene ISD students earned spots in the All-Region Mixed Choir after competition earlier this month at the Texas Music Educators’ Association Region 6 Choir auditions.
Six Abilene High students earned spots in the choir, while two students from Cooper earned a spot.
Those students by section were:
Abilene High School: Soprano I – Leann Bailey; Soprano II – Mia Mirelez and Lindsay Rogers; Alto – Molly Mercer; Tenor II – Harrison Smith; and Bass II – Jackson Stevens.
Cooper High School: Alto I – Kyla Speights; and Tenor II – Trevor Cox
In addition, three AISD students earned spots in the All-Region Treble Choir, and they are as follows:
Abilene High School: Soprano I – Vicky Gao
Cooper High School: Soprano II – Hallie Stone; and Alto II – Kadence Viel
The AHS choirs are under the direction of Mrs. Wendy Weeks and Mr. Remel Derrick. The CHS choirs are under the direction of Mrs. Cara Naizer and Mr. Josh Westman.
