If you want to know what’s going on in a school, ask a student!

That philosophy inspired the creation of a brand new student leadership team this semester: the AISD Mini Crew. This group of 4th and 5th grade student leaders from every elementary school in AISD met with Superintendent Dr. David Young and his Cabinet team for the very first time at the Grace Museum on Thursday, December 15. The meeting was also attended by members of Dr. Young’s Super Crew, a student advisory council with representatives from each high school.

The inaugural Mini Crew meeting began with a fun holiday art activity led by Kathryn Mitchell, the museum’s Director of Education. Students also had the opportunity to participate in a group discussion about things they love about their schools, what excites them about going to middle school, and what they would do to make their schools an even better place to learn. We are so proud of these outstanding students for sharing their excitement, honesty, and brilliant ideas about improving AISD schools.

Thank you, Mini Crew, for helping lead AISD into a brighter future for everyone!
