Tell Us About Your Family: My family and I moved to Abilene, Texas in February 2016. It was the best decision for our family! My husband and I have 4 children, all of which attend an AISD school.
Dream Vacation Spot and Why?: My dream vacation would be a trip home to Hawai’i, to visit with family and close friends and of course to soak up the sun on the beautiful beaches.
What Do You Enjoy Away From Work: I enjoy spending time with my family.
Tell Us Something Interesting About You: Helping others is totally my jam. Since my arrival in Abilene, I’ve helped to develop a local non-profit to help families in need. And, I’ve also helped to establish a PTO at my campus and raised $19,000 towards Playground Improvements in the 2 years I was involved.
What Is Your Favorite Part of Your Job: My favorite part about my job is the incredible students on our campus. They inspire me to do better for them every day.
What Bassetti Elementary principal Cecelia Zertuche says: Mrs. Urata is passionate about working with students and their families on a daily basis here at Bassetti. She works hard at establishing positive relationships with families, students, and staff and it shines through in her enthusiasm and her love for school.
