A Malaysian-Chinese immigrant, Daniel Ooi arrived in Abilene, TX for college when he was 17. Since earning both his BBS in English Education (HSU) and MA in English (ACU), Daniel has worked as a substitute teacher for AISD (2019-2022) and Wylie ISD (2023), as an adjunct instructor for ACU's Department of Language and Literature (2021-2023), and as the Associate Director of ACU's TRIO McNair Scholars program (2022-2023)–but he often dreams of being a househusband. Daniel has taught College Prep English Language Arts (CPELA) at Abilene High School since 2023. He enjoys contemporary American poetry but possesses a vehement dislike for fruits.
