Enrollment Information
Abilene ISD offers a full-day, tuition free Pre-K program for qualifying students. In order to determine qualification and enroll in a pre-k program, families must attend registration in-person. This year, registration will take place at the Abilene Convention Center on April 30, May 1 and May 2 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Only a parent or legal guardian may register a student, and students must meet the following qualifications:
Age Requirements
- Crockett Early Head Start: Birth–3 years old
- Head Start: 3 years old on or before Sept. 1 2024
- Head Start/Pre-K: 4 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2024
Other Qualifications
- Federal income guidelines (link?)
- Children who receive TANF/SSI/SNAP
- Children who are homeless
- Children who are currently or previously in CPS conservatorship
- Children who speak limited English (4 years)
- Children who are military dependents (4 years)
The following documentation will be needed to determine qualification:
- Child’s birth certificate, immunization record, and social security card.
- Proof of residency (utility bill or lease)
- Proof of income for ALL ADULTS in the home from the past 12 months including check stubs, filed 2023 tax return/W2 and 1099 forms, child support documents
- Parent/guardian photo ID
- Proof of TANF/SSI/SNAP
- Military dependent verification document
Please note that limited transportation is provided from Abilene ISD elementary schools.
