Family Literacy and LRC

The Family Literacy Program is committed to working with families to understand the importance of and aid in the development of literacy skills. A Family Literacy Library is available for parent checkout, with shelves lined with age appropriate books. In addition, Family Literacy provides each classroom with a library, and the students participate in “Book Bag Buddies” which is a way to take books into the homes on a regular basis. Building home libraries is a key focus of the literacy program, and many opportunities are provided throughout the year for our families to receive free books. Special literacy events each year include FRED (Fathers Reading Every Day), Treasure Hunt at the Public Library, BINGO for Books, Young Audiences, and more.
