Melinda Smith, M-Z

I am blessed beyond measure to serve as one of the counselors at Mann and work with our amazing students, parents, and staff. I love what I do!

I have been in the education field and in AISD since 2006. My teaching experience is in Special Education. I taught Resource ELA/Social Studies at Lincoln and Craig Middle Schools. My career goal was to become a school counselor, which began in 2011 at Reagan Elementary.  My heart has always been with middle school and in 2015 I was thrilled to join the Mann Clan!

I am a proud product of AISD; I attended Johnston, Mann, and AHS. As a former Mann falcon, I was an office worker for the wonderful counselors, Mrs. Penrod and Mrs. Merkel, and little did I know then that God’s plans included me becoming a counselor here one day!
I am a graduate of both Texas A&M University (B.A.) and Hardin Simmons University (M.Ed.). Prior to my teaching career, I worked in the mental health field at Betty Hardwick Center (MHMR) as an Intake/Crisis Specialist and Liaison with Big Spring State Hospital.

Whatever your needs, please feel free to contact me. I can help you locate resources and provide information that will help you support your children. Together we can make a difference!
In order to better serve our students, I primarily work with students with last names M-Z. Students are welcome to come talk anytime!
