Gomez, Kathrine
My name is Kathy Gomez. I graduated from Abilene High School in 1993. I eventually joined the Army and served five years, including some overseas in places like: Korea, Iraq, and Bahrain. I have a wonderful husband, Brian, and three daughters, Kristina, Anastasia, and Brianna.
I have a Business Administration Degree from Upper Iowa University. I received training in a literacy program that was adopted by the school in Michigan my daughters attended. I taught decoding and comprehension skills to Jr. High and High School students. I also taught adult literacy in the evenings. As soon as I moved back to Abilene in 2012, I saw the Region 14 advertisement to become a teacher and immediately applied. I earned certifications in General Education for Early Childhood thru Sixth Grade and Special Education for Early Childhood through Twelfth Grade. I was a fifth grade teacher for four years here at Martinez Elementary.
I am excited to work with third graders again this year! I love teaching and enjoy finding a way to help each student find their strength and learn to improve any area in which they struggle.
