Welcome to Sam Thomas Elementary School, home of the Thomas Texans! Thomas was named for Mr. Sam Thomas, a long-time educator and principal in AISD.  The campus was opened in 1992 on the east side of Abilene and currently serves approximately 400 students in Kindergarten through 5th grade.  Students who attend Thomas are citizens of “Thomasville” and annually elect a mayor and city council from the 4th and 5th grade classes  Through the generous support of local Adoptors, Thomasville stores open on select days so that students can purchase merchandise using points they’ve earned  for good behavior and from reading books.

Thomas has a long tradition of academic success and continues to be a leader among Abilene schools.  Thomas is classified as a Title 1 school which allows our campus to receive additional educational programs that greatly benefit our students.  Our strong faculty, staff, and amazing parents form the team that makes success possible for our students.  We are proud to be Thomas Texans!
