My name is Gayla de la Vega and I am the school counselor at Ortiz Elementary.  I have called Ortiz home since 2007.  I was raised in Abilene and attended Bowie, Jefferson and Cooper High School.  I earned my B.S. in Behavior Science at Hardin-Simmons University and my M. Ed. from Sul Ross State University.  I am married to Tim and together we have three children and three grandchildren.

I feel that my role as the school counselor is to help your child be the very best they can be.  I teach guidance lessons to all grade levels as well as individual student interventions when needed and small groups interventions.
