Speech Therapy

Welcome to Speech

In Speech, students work on individual goals according to their IEPs determined by the ARD committee. Students work on a variety of speech skills in these areas: articulation (specific sounds), fluency, voice, and language (vocabulary, sequencing, social skills, grammar, and other areas).

The diagnostician is involved in the testing and placement of students who need speech therapy. The diagnostician conducts the ARD meetings for students who qualify for speech at Ortiz Elementary. While we incorporate individualized goals for articulation and language, students participate in a variety of activities including children’s literature, crafts, and games as they improve their speech skills. Speech is a great place for students to learn and develop life-long tools for great communication skills!
