LLI: Leveled Literacy Intervention

LLI

LLI is a supplemental reading intervention program. LLI, Leveled Literacy Intervention, is the research-based reading intervention curriculum taught for students in grades 1 through 5 who need extra support to become proficient, grade-level readers. In a small group setting, LLI provides 30-45 minutes of daily instruction that is in addition to the core reading/language arts program. The daily lesson plan provides explicit, direct instruction in a lesson plan that encourages rereading for fluency, reading the Books of the Week and Working with Words/Writing Sentences. The program is based on classroom research conducted by reading experts Fountas & Pinnell. LLI develops reading fluency within a meaning based context. It is aligned with the 5 critical areas of reading instruction as outlined in the Reading First criteria of the No Child Left Behind Legislation.
