Elizabeth Burns

Elizabeth Burns is the music educator at Allie Ward Elementary teaching kindergarten through fifth grade and has taught in AISD since 2002.    Mrs. Burns is Kodaly Certified and uses the Kodaly and Orff methods in her classroom which are sequential, developmental, and literacy-oriented. By singing various genres of music, playing instruments, and exploring movement and dance, students are inspired to reach their full musical potential and gain an appreciation for music.  Her goal is to help the students develop a genuine love of music that will continue throughout every stage of their life.  Mrs. Burns also founded and directs the Ward Honor Choir consisting of approximately 50 fourth and fifth grade students that perform at school concerts and various events in the community.  When not in the classroom, Mrs. Burns enjoys being outdoors and camping.  She regularly volunteers at her church with the youth ministries and has been a youth group summer camp volunteer for over 20 years.  But most importantly, she loves spending time with her family and grandchildren.
