Leta Machogu

My name is Letabeth Machogu and I am so excited to get to know your students and help them become the very best they can be. I am one of the Deaf Education teachers at Ward Elementary. I received my B.S. in Deaf and Hard of Hearing and became a certified Deaf Ed teacher in 2021. I completed my student teaching with Sherman ISD and then moved to Abilene and have been teaching here ever since! I am a BEI Basic Level Certified ASL interpreter. I interpret for the Deaf community during holiday breaks from school. My husband is also Deaf, so it is great for my students to see a Deaf role model in him. While we don't have any children yet, we do have 2 of the cutest cats! I am currently pursuing my Masters Degree from Lamar University in Educational Administration.  "Sign language is the noblest gift God has given to deaf people." George Veditz
