Hi, I'm Shannon Bankhead, school nurse at Austin Elementary! I graduated from ACU in 2003. I spent three years working in the ER at Hendrick, then moved away from Abilene. I spent some time at home with my kids and then worked at a college as a dorm director. As I got back into nursing, I took a job as a school nurse in Belton ISD and fell in love with it! I think it combines all of the things I know. It's always different and always interesting in a school nurse clinic! It's definitely more than giving out bandaids and ice packs...although those help every once in a while. My family recently moved to Abilene and we are excited to be back! When I'm not helping students at Austin, my favorite thing to do is spend time with my family. I'm married to Brad, have two daughters, one son and a cute Cocker Spaniel named Jolene. Although this is only my first year at Austin, I can already tell it is a special place. I am so happy to be an Austin Raider and look forward to serving students and families in the clinic!
