Secondary Education

Abilene ISD is proud to offer a comprehensive selection of secondary academic courses, electives, and extra-curricular programs for students in grades 6-12. In addition to the foundation curriculum, AISD offers Advanced Placement, early college opportunities, Career and Technical Education, fine arts, athletics, foreign languages, special education and English as a Second Language (ESL).

Our secondary campuses include five high schools and four middle schools designed to fit the interests and needs of all students. In grades 9-12, students may attend one of the comprehensive high schools depending upon their school zone or they may choose to attend the Academy of Technology, Engineering, Math and Science (ATEMS). Students in grades 11-12 interested in medical careers may also choose to attend Holland Medical High School while still attending Abilene High School or Cooper High School. All the secondary opportunities for students in AISD support the district’s goal to prepare students to be successful in post-secondary education and workforce readiness.
