Welcome to Abilene ISD’s Communication Department. Functions of the Communications Department include media relations, community partnerships, internal and external communications, public information requests, website homepage content and district wide special events.
Media Relations • All media inquiries should be directed to the Chief Communications Officer (Lance Fleming) or the Associate Director of Communications (Jordan Ziemer). • Because of COVID-19, no member of the media will be allowed inside AISD facilities with the exception of gymnasiums and other athletics venues for games and matches. • Media are free to get video of campuses without prior approval from the Communications Office as long as they are positioned off campus and across the street (off AISD property). • No media should be in an AISD facility or on an AISD campus without prior approval from Lance Fleming or Jordan Ziemer.
Community Partnerships The Partners in Education office actively seeks resources to fill the needs identified by campuses from the Partners in Education and Volunteers in Public School (VIPS) Programs. Community support is developed through a continuing process of relationship building with businesses, professional organizations, parents, churches, higher education, Dyess AFB , and the community. District Information The Abilene ISD Newsletter is a source of district information, calendar events and other interesting features on students, teachers and staff. The Abilene ISD Newsletter is posted on the district website monthly during the school year.
Public Information Formal requests for public information should be directed to the Communications Office by mail, fax, electronically or in person. All requests for public information are considered in accordance with the Texas Public Information Act, Texas Government Code § 552.001, in addition to Abilene ISD legal and local policies.
