The Adult Education Programs are based on the belief that every adult, regardless of age, is entitled to basic education. The following programs are available to give adults a second chance to further their education and improve their lives:

Who can attend? Adult Education programs are open to anyone 19 or older and not enrolled in a public K-12 school. BRING YOUR ID AND SOCIAL SECURITY CARD FOR ENROLLMENT.
What does it cost? There is no cost for instruction and/or materials for students enrolled. The Adult Education Programs are sponsored by the Abilene Independent School District and are supported by state and federal grant funds.
How do I register for ESL and GED® classes? Call (325) 671-4419 and ask for next available dates and times and to sign up for orientation.
What do I need to bring? You must present a valid, correct, government-issued photo ID and Social Security Card for orientation.
When does this happen? We have orientation monthly. All orientation days are mandatory. Upcoming dates are as follows:
Adult Education and Literacy Classes (GED® preparation)

- Morning Classes are held Monday – Thursday 8:30 – 11:30 AM
- Orientation is November 11,12, 13. All dates run 8:30-11:30 AM
- Afternoon Classes are held Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 1:30 – 4:30 PM
- Orientation is November 5, 6, 7, and December 3. 4. 5. All dates run 1:30-4:30 PM
- Evening Classes are held Tuesday and Thursday 5:30 – 8:30 PM
- Orientation is October 15, 17, 22 and November 12, 14, 19. All dates run 5:30-8:30 PM
- Morning Classes are held Monday – Thursday 8:30 – 11:30 AM

English Language Learner Classes (ESL)

- ESL Morning classes are held Tuesday – Friday 8:30 – 11:30 AM
- Please arrive BEFORE 10:00 AM October 15, 16, or 17, November 5, 6, or 7, or December 3, 4, or 5. (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday ONLY. Registration is a one-session event)
- ESL Evening Classes are held Tuesday and Thursday 5:30-8:30 PM
- Please arrive BEFORE 7:00 PM November 5 or 7, OR December 3 or 5. (Tuesday and Thursday ONLY. Registration is a one-session event)
- ESL Morning classes are held Tuesday – Friday 8:30 – 11:30 AM

Texas Success Initiative Boot Camp (TSI, college entrance/placement exam)

- TSI Boot Camp is held Monday-Thursday 1:00-3:00 PM
- OR Monday, Tuesday 5:30-8:30 PM and Thursday 6:00-8:00 PM
- MATH and READING/WRITING will be offered on alternating months.
