Daryl Zeller
Daryl has been a resident of Abilene since 1980. Born in Casper, Wyoming, and raised in Fort Worth, Daryl is the son of the late Jack and Dorothy Zeller. He is a product of the Fort Worth ISD system and a 1980 graduate of Paschal High School. Daryl received his BBA in Finance from Abilene Christian University in 1984.
Daryl and his wife, Rebekah (Gibbs) Zeller, have four children, all proud students of AISD. Rebekah is a 1980 graduate of Cooper High School and daughter of the late JB Gibbs and Winnie Gibbs, both AISD retirees. Daryl and Rebekah’s children have all attended Austin Elementary, Lincoln/Mann Middle School and graduated from Abilene High School – Grant ’07, Suzanne 09’, Peter 12’ and Abigail will be graduating in 17’. All have earned their degrees from ACU and are currently serving in some form of student/children ministry across Texas and in Costa Rica.
Daryl serves as an Account Representative for Ethicon Surgical Care, a division of Johnson & Johnson. He provides products, training and instruction to various surgical specialties through out the West Texas area including Abilene, San Angelo, Brownwood, Midland and Odessa. He has served in this capacity for 24 years and previously worked in the financial sector in Banking and Bank Accounting/Transaction technology sales for the NCR Corporation.
Daryl has received numerous sales awards and leadership recognition with Johnson & Johnson, the prestigious Johnson & Johnson Standard of Leadership Award, numerous peer leadership awards and a recipient sales excellence awards.
Daryl has been an active participant in the Abilene community as a youth coach, board member and supporter of numerous youth leagues in the community. Daryl has served as President of Austin Elementary PTA, Lincoln Middle School PTA and VP of Mann Middle School PTA. He has served as President of AHS Booster Club for five years and has been on the board for 10 years. He has served on the Abilene Education Foundation Board and Advisory Board. He has also volunteered with Key City Kiwanis, Junior Achievement and Young Life Abilene.
Daryl and his wife Rebekah are members at Highland Church of Christ, where they have served in Children/Youth ministry and currently teach a Young Professional class.
Daryl is passionate about the success and mission of AISD. He is honored to represent the students, parents and teachers of AISD. They are his top priority and the No. 1 reason he has chosen to serve on the AISD school board.
