Cary Owens

An Abilene ISD educator since 1995, Cary Owens became Abilene ISD’s Chief Technology Officer in February 2013.

After beginning her teaching career in 1995 as a math teacher, Cary has worked in the Technology Department since 2001. She served as the Coordinator of Instructional Technology from 2008-2013.Cary holds four degrees from Abilene Christian University – master’s degrees in school principalship and school supervision and bachelor’s degrees in computer science and mathematics teaching.

Cary began her career in 1995 as a math teacher at Jefferson Middle School and later taught at Madison Middle School. In the Technology Department, she served as a Technology Analyst and Instructional Technology Specialist before becoming Coordinator of Instructional Technology.

Both of Cary’s daughters attended or attend Abilene ISD schools and her husband is an assistant principal at Dyess Elementary School.
