Adult Education offers free preparation for the GED®.
After enrollment, students are placed in classes based on their levels in reading, writing, and math.
Here are the various academic levels (according to the National Reporting System or NRS):
Level 1 – Low Beginner
Level 2 – High Beginner
Level 3 – Low Intermediate
Level 4 – High Intermediate
Level 5 – Low Advanced
Level 6 – High Advanced
Students who attend our program are eligible to receive $145 worth of free GED testing, and typically, students who are categorized as Level 5 or 6 are considered “GED Test-Ready”. Once a student is at Level 5 or 6, we will then help them sign up for their exam at the GED testing site in Abilene (the Region 14 ESC South on Treadway Blvd). Please note – you must have an account with GED.com to select a date and time for your exam.
- Morning classes (4 days per week) are held on Monday through Thursday 8:30 – 11:30 AM
- Afternoon classes (3 days per week) are held on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 1:30-3:30 PM
- Evening Classes (2 nights per week) are held on Tuesday and Thursday 5:30-8:30 PM
*A valid Texas ID and Social Security card are required to be on file before starting classes.
*** Morning classes for the spring semester will begin on Monday, January 9th.
*** Evening classes for the spring semester will begin on Tuesday, January 10th.
